So why do we use screensavers? They were originally created to protect computer monitors from phosphor burn-in. In earlier CRT monitors, images that were displayed for long periods of times would become burnt into the glass surface and would leave a ghosting effect on the screen. Lucky today, modern monitors don't suffer from this same problem; however, we continue to use screensavers for a few simple reasons:
